Meet Rod Hairston

I've spent most of my lifetime studying marriage and relationship dynamics and have worked for over 30 years coaching ultra-high-performing professional athletes and their partners in sports and business, Including in my graduate work I've been gathering the most important biblical principles, psychological insights and coaching wisdom, that lead couples away from divorce and back to loving one another.

The worst thing that happened to me turned out for my good. It gave me purpose. At the age of 9 months my dad abandoned our small family. My Mom raised me and my brother as a single mom, I'm grateful to say that I've beaten the statistical odds related to adverse childhood experiences and have achieved a thriving marriage and family for over 34 years, I'm grateful to have earned two Super Bowl rings. And I'm proud to have built a highly effective coaching practice serving as a coach, mentor, and trusted advisor to some of the most respected and successful people in the world of sports.

The 6 Part Formula for Couples Success

Rod’s expertise is in the application of psychology and the biblical theology of relationships. He believes this is the formula for couples success.

His years of research and teachings center around helping couples uncover what has made them who they are, discover how they function in relationships, be honest about why the function as they do, and embrace what they need for their relationships to be healthy.

Stage 1 - Uncover Your Personal Why For Love +

The first step to building a dream relationship life that is vibrant and healthy is to go beneath the surface to understand our own “why”. Our why is the key to our motivations in love relationships and our rarely expressed (and little known) desire to heal some part of our lives. Our expectations in relationships, as well as our disappointments, can be better understood when we uncover our why. Here we get couples clear about lifelong patterns and often, life-long pains that show up in our relationships.

Stage 2 - Level Up Your Emotional Understanding +

We were created, in part, to be emotional beings. But our emotions are what get us in trouble in our relationships. Sometimes they lead us in ways that we do not know. And sometimes we hurt each other deeply because we don’t “see” emotions.

This is the most neglected part of our relationship journey because it is the most neglected part of our lives. To build rich connections, we help couples develop a deep respect for the place and role emotions play in our lives and in our relationships with each other. Couples who lean into this 2nd stage are poised for great success!

Stage 3 - Unstack Conflicts & Clarify Conflict Styles +

There is no relationship life without conflict. Yet many couples have never been taught how to engage in conflict in healthy ways. Most of us have never seen healthy conflicts in our upbringing. And sometimes what we did see we considered healthy. Often what we saw was the normalization of unhealthy conflict resolution.

Because of this, many couples have stacks of unresolved conflicts, which put extraordinary pressure on their relationships. Once couples begin to understand the science behind why we operate in conflicts the way we do, embrace the principles for functioning well in conflicts, and begin practicing the skills for engaging one another, they experience a new freedom with one another.

Stage 4 - Develop “Love Talk” & Communication Skills +

If 80% of communication is non-verbal, it’s important that couples learn to see the entire picture when they attempt to communicate. Words are only one aspect of our “love talk.” Our bodies say a great deal, and we must learn to read each other beneath the surface of our words in a way that helps us connect.

Couples who work with Love Again and who implement our Dream Marriage Method discover a powerful new framework that helps them improve their communication exponentially, beginning with the inner personal work that is foundational.

Stage 5 - Rebuild Broken Trust +

When conflicts are left unresolved, communication breaks down, and emotional needs suffer, broken trust is the result. In this stage, couples learn the keys to safely and consistently putting trust back into their dynamic. This is a delicate process that takes time. But our Dream Marriage Method provides couples a way to know for sure how to rebuild broken trust even if trust has been lost for years.

Our approach to rebuilding trust helps couples recover their love even if there have been repeated infidelities or other painful relationship injuries.

Stage 6 - Create A Healing Environment +

Great relationships are built in great environments. In this final stage, couples learn the power of helping each other heal from past relationship injuries within their relationships, as well as from family-of-origin pain and traumatic experiences.

Many of our clients—private and group—discover that this stage introduces them to a game-changing concept that we call “Healing Together.” It changes their focus to long-term success, not only for themselves but for their family, with powerful implications for generations to come.
